Apart from his kindness, his highly ethical business practices made him a revered name across the community. Such was his respect that the market later came to be known as "Tota Ram Bazaar after his shop's name.

He lived by the motto; "Padam Hee Sarvatre Nirdheeyate", meaning, Good Qualities leaves their footprints everywhere.
